SUPRA President Resigns in Marathon Meeting

BREAKING: The president of the million-dollar Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association (SUPRA), Tim Scriven, has resigned from his position after a motion by Council calling for him to apologise for administration errors passed 11 to 6 with 1 abstention.

It was the dramatic culmination of a marathon four-hour meeting to discuss his future following a string of governance issues, including an admission that the Returning Officer had helped draft notice for election despite a number of errors.

Mr Scriven had earlier promised to resign if a motion calling on him to apologise for “his lack of attention to the administration of SUPRA” and for “incorrect accusations” against two female councillors was successful.

More to come.
